UX Research + Findings
Research
In pursuit of enhancing the Mindful Goods app’s user experience, I conducted extensive user research to gather valuable insights.
The research was comprised of two primary methods. In-depth user interviews were conducted with 15 participants who regularly use sustainable and health-conscious products. Additionally, a usability test involving 10 participants was carried out to evaluate the app’s wireframe interface and identify pain points.
Findings
Scan Functionality is a Highlight.
Findings: Users highly appreciated the barcode scanning feature. This was the preferred search method.
Recommendation: Continue to prioritize and expand products that are searchable within this feature.
Sustainability Ratings are Valuable.
Findings: Users actively used sustainability ratings to make informed choices and wanted more in-depth information.
Recommendation: Each company currently has one sustainability score ranging from 0-100. Consider an expansion of the criteria shown and allow users to customize their rating preferences.
Clean Ingredient Analysis is Essential.
Findings: Users praised the ingredient analysis feature.
Recommendations: Enhance the ingredient analysis to provide more detailed information. Offer alternative product suggestions based on user preferences.
E-commerce Should be Exclusive and Curated.
Findings: Users noted that they’re likely to purchase products on the app if they feel curated and less available at big-box stores.
Recommendations: Prioritize product launches with small businesses, and create pop-up collections. Test further and implement as a phase-two initiative, gathering additional data on what will provide the highest ROI.
Conclusion + Pivots
The user research findings indicate areas for improvement in the Mindful Goods app. Changes include expanding scannable products, adding social and environmental sustainability categories, and showing a full ingredient analysis. User research pivots were implemented and can be found in the final screens.
